Are you having trouble accessing any parts of the Butler Benefit Service website?
We have assembled a few "Frequently Asked Questions" to help you to work through most problems you may encounter.
I clicked on the "Explanation of Benefits" link and I do not See any EOBs.
The "Explanation of Benefits" option on the BIN is only available to those participants who opt into the electronic EOB's in the Account Manager section.
However, anyone can access the
majority of their EOB information through the Claims
History area as well. While you are viewing your claims
history, the claim number for the claim in question becomes a
hyperlink in bolded blue text. Clicking on this claim number
will prompt the system to recreate the EOB that was sent to you
in the postal mail, and display it in a new browser window.
Popup blocking software will affect the operation of generated
EOB's, so it is possible that a problem is there as well. One
drawback of the recreated EOB, it that it does not contain all
of the information that was on a mailed EOB, since the
Deductibles and Out of Pocket amounts are constantly changing
and cannot possibly be as accurate as it needs to be.
You can get over this limitation by opting into Electronic EOB's
in the Account Manager section as mention above. When
this active, our system captures the EOB that would have been
sent in the postal mail as an Adobe PDF file, complete with the
Deductibles and Out Of Pocket information that is missing from
the recreated version. You will then receive a notification
email stating that an EOB is ready for viewing on the Butler
Information Network. These captured EOB's are archived
indefinitely, and are available 24 hours a day and 7 days a
week. By opting into this service, you will not receive any
EOB's in the postal mail from us until you opt out of the
service (unless there is a check to you attached). As a side
benefit of utilizing email, both Butler and your employer,
realize a considerable savings in postage which ultimately
could be realized as savings in premiums and plan administration
costs.
What is a PDF file and how do I view it?
A PDF file is a universal electronic format for a
document. A company by the name of Adobe makes the software to
create and view the PDF files. If you do not have Adobe Reader
program installed on your computer you will need to install it.
Adobe Reader is a free program for download from the Adobe web site
that will let you view and print out the EOB PDF document. Adobe web
site is http://www.adobe.com and
the current link to downloading the Adobe Reader is
http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html
I use Internet Explorer 5.5,
and I keep getting "Security
Alert" messages. Is the Butler Information Network secure?
The Butler Information Network uses SSL encrypted
pages utilizing the industry standard Verisign security certificate.
However, users
of Internet Explorer 5.5 may be inadvertently experiencing "Security
Alert" and "Security Information" messages that appear
when navigating through the Butler Information Network. Microsoft
has resolved this problem with the release of the Internet Explorer
5.5 Service Pack 2. To download this release, click on the link
below, then click "Download Now" and follow the "How
to download and install" instructions provided.

When I try to access the Butler Information Network, I receive
a web page stating that the site cannot be opened. Does this mean
your web site is down?
If you
are using Microsoft's Internet Explorer and you have Secure Sockets
Layer (SSL) turned off, you will receive an error message
stating that the web site could not be opened. You must turn on
SSL in order to access your claims information on the Butler Information
Network.
If you are using IE 4 (Internet Explorer, version 4.0) or higher,
do the following to enable SSL: Go to the menu on the top of the
screen and click View followed by Internet Options. A window entitled
Internet Options should now be visible. The Internet Options window
should have six tabs going from left to right. The name of the tab
on the far right is Advanced. Click on the Advanced tab. Move the
scroll bar about a third of the way down until you see a little
padlock and the word Security. Click to check the boxes next to
both SSL 2.0 and SSL 3.0. Then click okay at the bottom of the Internet
Options window. You will now be able to view secure web sites.
I
was logged on to the Butler Information Network when I received a
web page stating that the site has an "Internal
Server Error". What does this mean?
This
is an error that states 'Internal Server Error - The server encountered
an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable
to complete your request. Please contact the server administrator,
webmaster@butlerins.com and inform them of the time the error
occurred,
and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.'
This is actually a normal error that occurs when the secure session
that you requested with our server has timed out. Simply return
to www.bbsionline.com and
enter your login information again to start working with the
Butler Information Network again.
I use Web TV to access the internet, and I cannot sign on to the Butler
Information Network. Is Web TV supported by the Butler Information
Network?
Current Web TV limitations cause most Web TV systems to not be able
to access the Butler Information Network. Web TV currently has limited
support for cookies,
javscript, and Java applets, which are all required to setup a secure session
with our server. Microsoft is currently working on enhancements to thier Web
TV Products, and they will hopefully have a version in the future that can access
the Butler Information Network. To find out for yourself what limitations your
Web TV has, please visit http://developer.webtv.net.
